Unit 2 Project Ideas
I think that doing something with gender would be really neat. There are so many aspects of gender for the 1950s that I could do. There were televisions shows, marriage, illness, and sexual image. There are so many ways to go about doing a paper on gender that I do not know which one to choose. I think the aspect on marriage and the different ways that males and are treated is the most interesting. I think making a poster along with my paper would be very informative. Today, the way that gender and marriage are portrayed are completely different and I think that seeing the difference first hand would be the most interesting. Each person in the class would be able to see gender differences too.

Post #5I have found that this project is more difficult than I originally expected. The fact that the project is open ended makes it harder for me. It is so creative that I am having problems with not having a set prompt. All of my other English classes are always strict with the prompt, length, and due dates. I enjoy that this classes allows us to work on the papers and not worry so much about form. I like having the freedom but am having trouble with being so creative. Also, when searching through Marissa’s site, I read some posts and candles lit for her that were really hard to read. It makes me miss her even more. Although this project is taking me through an emotional roller coster, I feel that it is also helping me to let her go, yet keep her memory alive.

Unit 1 Project
Post #4 For my unit 1 project I am either going to the the annoying new business school that is being built next to my dorm or a memorial site for a friend that was shot the first Friday of Christmas break. i think that the memorial will be very difficult to do, but would be much more interesting than the Business School. Although the memorial is emotional its not that I have never seen the page before. It’s a website that I am familiar withand the topic is something that I think about daily. Hopefully class next week will help me better understand the project so I can choose the best topic.

Post #2 Now that I have finished the book I understand it all better. It makes sense that the whole book was about a dream. I did not catch the beginning part how she falls asleep, but the end all makes sense about how her sister wakes her up. The book makes better sense to me now because I am much more into realistic views than fantasy. I thought that the sarcastic remarks in the book made it easier to understand because I am a sarcastic person too. The book also had logical remarks which required thinking, such as “Everything’s got a moral, if only you can find it.” (70) In the very last paragraph when childhood is mentioned, it really made me reminisced about my simple childhood days. I think that the book is a good representation of how we as teens hold on to our simple childhood memories with dreams and wish that everything was as simple as it used to be.

I don’t really understand this whole blog thing. Hopefully I am writing on my own page and in the correct place. For my first post I guess I will do a little bit more of an introduction of myself than I did in class. I decided to come to Miami on May 1st. The every last day that you could make the decision. Everyone always assumed that I would come to Miami, and when I told people they said see I told you so. My sister goes here and my mother went here, but I decided to come to Miami for myself. It is a well recognized school for academics and most people here seem to love it. I on the other hand did not have such a love feeling for Miami the first few months. Slowly but surely I am adjusting to being so far from home (about 5 hours) and realizing my best friends are no longer constantly behind me in everything that I do. I have made some great friends here who I hope to remain close with and I am rushing for a sorority and hopefully that will make school even better also! Everyone that I have talked to says that the second semester flies by so hopefully summer will be here before we know it! I read Alice in Wonderland, I don’t remember the movie because I probably haven’t seen it since I was 5, but luckily now I won’t get confused. I don’t really understand all the random songs and little poems throughout the text but hopefully we will discuss these in class!
